Remo D`Souza is a noted Indian choreographer known for crafting some of the very popular dance sequences. He has mainly worked for Bollywood; however his works also encompass other regional film industries especially Bengali cinema. Apart from choreography, he has also ventured in the fields of acting and film direction. Remo D`Souza has struggled substantially to establish himself amongst the prominent choreographers of Indian film industry.

Early Life of Remo D`Souza
Remo D`Souza was born on 2nd April 1974. He did his schooling from Jamnagar, Gujarat. Although his father wanted him to join Indian Air Force, Remo lost interest in studies. He left his schooling and moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in the field of dancing. Since childhood he had a keen interest in dance. Although he never had a guru he used to perform regularly in school functions. He shifted to Mumbai in an urge to explore the world of dance even more. He never had a professional training in dance and learnt it through movies and music videos. He used to copy the steps of Michael Jackson and added extra steps to them to craft his choreography.

Career of Remo D`Souza
During the initial days of his struggle in Mumbai, Remo D`Souza didn`t have any source of income. After some time he started a dance class at Churni Road by the name `Super Brats`. Along with three of his friends he then opened two more branches of his institute at Borivali and Andheri. He began his classes with four students which gradually increased in number. His dance team first got noticed at All India Dance Competition. During this phase the well known choreographer Ahmed Khan was searching for fresh faces while working with Ram Gopal Varma for the movie Rangeela. Although initially Remo D`Souza was rejected for his dark complexion, he was later selected owing to his impeccable dancing skills. He was thus featured in the movie Rangeela which earned him his first break as a dancer. This set his dancing career rolling and he began assisting Ahmed Khan.

For the next one year he assisted Ahmed Khan and gradually gained confidence for taking up independent projects. He got his first independent music video from Anubhav Sinha and choreographed Sonu Nigam`s album Deewana. The video became a big hit and earned him many other music videos to his credit. He got his first break in movies with Hansal Mehta`s film Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar. The film however did not perform well at the box office. His next Bollywood venture was Anubhav Sinha`s Tum Bin which proved to be a big hit. However the real breakthrough in the career of Remo D`Souza came with the movie Kaante in which he choreographed the popular item number `Ishq Samundar`. The project brought him major success and paved way for his successful career as a choreographer. He has choreographed dance sequences for movies like Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Awarapan, De Taali, Rock On!!, Rang de Basanti, Luck, Krrish 3, Jai Ho, Besharam, Hasee Toh Phasee and many others.

Remo D`Souza made his directional debut with the film F.A.L.T.U which was a moderate success at box office. He was also accredited as the one to make India`s first 3D Dance Movie ABCD - Any Body Can Dance. The film featured the contestants of dance based reality show Dance India Dance and the title of the film was suggested by another famed choreographer Terrence Lewis. As an actor he appeared in the movies ABCD: Any Body Can Dance and Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities in minor roles. He also appeared in the dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as a judge.

Achievements of Remo D`Souza
In 2014 Remo D`Souza has won Star Screen Awards for Best Choreographer for the song `Badtameez Dil` from the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. In the same year he also received Renault Star Guild Awards for the same movie by choreographing the songs `Badtameez Dil` and `Balam Pichkari`.
