Rayakottai Fort is located in the district of Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu state. The fortress was occupied by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan of Mysore during the 18th century.

Rayakottai Fort, Tamil NaduRayakottai Fort, also known as Rayakotta Fort is located in Rayakottai town in the district of Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu state. It is one of the ancient forts in Tamil Nadu. The fortress was occupied by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan of Mysore kingdom during the 18th century.

During the Third Mysore War, Rayakottai Fort was seized by the British East India Company in 1791. Later the British administration took possession of the fort after the Treaty of Srirangapatna. At present, the fort is maintained by the Archeological Survey of India.
