Rannvijay Singh is a popular Indian television presenter, best recognized for hosting the adventure reality television show titled MTV Roadies. He has also appeared in a few Bollywood flicks as an actor. He also works as a columnist. Rannvijay Singh began his career in the entertainment industry with the popular show MTV Roadies following which he earned recognition in the Indian television as an anchor. However his journey in the film world has not been much successful and the films in which he appeared could not emerge as successful at the box office.
Early Life of Rannvijay Singh
Rannvijay Singh was born on 16th March 1983 in Jalandhar, Punjab. His father serves the Indian Army as an officer. As his father had a transferable job, Rannvijay changed nine schools while moving to different places in India. However he did the major part of his schooling from a boarding school. Rannvijay attended the Army Public School Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi. He did his graduation from Hans Raj College, Delhi University.
Television Career of Rannvijay Singh
Rannvijay Singh had passed the exams for Indian Army, clearing the medical test, and was ready to join the same when he participated in an adventure reality TV show on MTV India called MTV Roadies Season 1 in the year 2003. In the show he emerged as a finalist which changed his destiny. Afterwards MTV offered him to anchor the same show. Since then Rannvijay has been associated with MTV and the show Roadies. Eventually he also hosted some other shows on the same channel like MTV Teen Diva, MTV the Fast and the Gorgeous, MTV Splitsvilla Season 1 and MTV Stuntmania. In the MTV Splitsvilla Season 2 also he made a brief appearance. He has also been a part of the show called RannVJRun along with Anshuman Jeswal and Rishabh Dhir. It was a 10 episode series in which Rannvijay tried Extreme Sports in ten different locations across the world. Rannvijay Singh has also endorsed several top brands.
Film Career of Rannvijay Singh
Rannvijay Singh has acted in a few Bollywood flicks but none of them could garner major success at the box office. He debuted on the silver screen with the 2009 film Toss: A Flip of Destiny alongside Ashmit Patel and Aarti Chhabria. In the same year he also appeared in a big budget production London Dreams. This film also featured famed Bollywood actors like Ajay Devgan, Salman Khan and Asin. His next release was Direct Dil Se in 2010. He also starred in Vipul Shah"s film Action Replayy in the same year along with Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar. Rannvijay made his debut in the Punjabi film industry with the political thriller Dharti in 2011. Indian actors Jimmy Shergill and Prem Chopra also starred in the film. His next venture in the same year was the Hindi film Mod in which he portrayed the male lead alongside Ayesha Takia. He also acted in Eros Entertainment and Jimmy Shergill Productions" Taur Mittran Di, a Punjabi flick, in 2012.
Other Ventures of Rannvijay Singh
Apart from films, Rannvijay Singh has also been associated with other ventures. In August 2011 he played a cricket match in Jaipur along with other celebrities such as Vikas Bhalla, Nikhil Chinapa, Rajiv Laxman, Nagesh Kukunoor and others for supporting the Save the Girl Child cause. He started his first major business venture - Rocksport Challenge in collaboration with Great Rocksport Pvt Ltd. in 2012. This venture aims at the introduction of lifestyle adventure running in India for bringing the people closer to nature. The announcement for the Rocksport Challenge was made on 5th September 2012 which coincided with the Teachers Day.
