Randhir Singh Gentle is reckoned as one of the most illustrious hockey player. He played in three consecutive Olympics that were held in London, Helsinki and Melbourne.

Randhir Singh Gentle, as the member of the Indian national Hockey team, he became the part of the gold medal winner of Indian hockey team. India won gold medal in these three Olympics. These three consecutive Olympics were held in London, Helsinki and Melbourne. Randhir Singh Gentle was born on September 22 in the year of 1922.

Career of Randhir Singh Gentle
He was an illustrious Indian Field hockey player. He participated at the three consecutive Olympics for the year of 1948, 1952 and 1956. At the London Olympics, Randhir Singh Gentle participated along with the fellow members of the Indian team were: Kishan Lal (captain), Ranganathan Francis, Leo Pinto, Walter D`Souza, Trilochan Singh, Akhtar Hussain, Keshav Chandra Dutt, Amir Kumar, Jaswant Singh Rajput, Maxie Vaz, Kunwar Digvijay Singh Babu, Reginald Rodrigues, Balbir Singh Sr, Patrick Anthony Jansen, Latif ur Rehman, Lawri Fernandes, Grahnandan Singh and Gerry Glacken.

He also played in the Indian hockey team in 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, where India won a gold medal. In the 1956 Olympics games, Melbourne helped secure the gold medal for the Indian team, the sixth time in a row, which was a record at that time. In the 1956 Olympics, the Indian team played for 5 matches, where India was able to win all 5 of them, scoring a total of 38 goals in the entire tournament.

At the 1956 Indian Olympic Team at Melbourne, Randhir Singh Gentle was part of the team led by Balbir Singh Sr.. The other members were, Amit S. Bakshi, Govind Perumal, Gurdev Singh, Raghbir Singh Bhola, Leslie Claudius, Ranganathan Francis, Balkrishan Singh, Charles Stephen, Udham Singh, Hardayal Singh, Shankar Lakshman (goalkeeper) and others. In the first match against Pakistan since partition, Randhir Singh Gentle took a penalty kick and scored a goal by dodging the Pakistani goalkeeper, leading the Indian team to a gold medal victory.

Randhir Singh Gentle was amongst the triple gold medal winners, which included sporting legends like Ranganathan Francis and Balbir Singh Sr. along with him. He died on September 25 in the year 1981.
