Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga (E), MumbaiRamnarain Ruia College, a part of Shikshana Prasarka Mandali, Pune, was established in June 1937. In fact, Ramnarain Ruia College was the first college in Mumbai to be started by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali. Ramnarain Ruia College is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and conducts several courses at Under Graduate as well as Post Graduate levels. It has excelled in academics as well as other extra-curricular activities and as a result has received a lot of assistance from the University Grants Commission, CSIR and many other reputed organisations. This college is located at Matunga in the city of Mumbai. Ramnarain Ruia College has been honoured with a rating of four stars by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India.

Objective of Ramnarain Ruia College
The mission of Ramnarain Ruia College is to emerge as a centre of higher learning and innovative research so as to meet the challenges of a global society. It also aims at mainstreaming the practices that facilitate intellectual, emotional, physical and cultural growth of students.

History of Ramnarain Ruia College
The college was established on December 3rd, 1937, by Sir Roger Lumley, the Governor of Bombay (now Mumbai) at that time. Mataji Suvratadevi Ruia and Seth Ramnivas Ruia also played a vital role in the commencement of the college. Seth Ramnivas Ruia donated a large amount in order to set up the College. Thus the college was named after him, as decided by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali.

Courses Offered at Ramnarain Ruia College
Various courses are offered at Ramnarain Ruia College like Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor in Mass Media, Bachelor in Library and Information Science and Master of Science. Besides the several Graduate and Post Graduate courses a number of vocational as well as Certificate Courses are also offered in the Ramnarain Ruia College. In some of the subjects, the college also offers Ph.D.

Ramnarain Ruia College has a junior section as well. The junior section includes the eleventh and twelfth standard classes. Even in that level some vocational courses are offered to students in streams like Computer Science and Electronics.

Facilities of Ramnarain Ruia College
The library of Ramnarain Ruia College is well equipped. It caters to a large number of students. The library has also subscription to a number of national as well as international journals. Besides printed materials, information is also stored in the form of CDs and DVDs. The college also has a coaching camp for several sports like Badminton, Shooting and Boxing. Besides regular training, the camp also awards certificates to the students who participate in college sports.

Further, Ramnarain Ruia College does not only concentrate on academics but they have ample of co-curricular activities. The responsibility of extra-curricular activities of the college is taken by a students organisation named as Vidyarthi Prathinidhi Mandal. This body looks into the developmental needs of the students as individuals and at the same time also pays attention to the recreational needs of the students. They organise several activities like workshops, seminars, lectures which help in all round development of students` personality.

Alumni of Ramnarain Ruia College
Some of the prominent alumni of the college are Ajit Wadekar (former Indian cricketer), Manohar Joshi (former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and speaker of Lok Sabha) and many more.

Since, its establishment, Ramnarain Ruia College of Mumbai has earned the reputation of being one of the finest institutions of the country. Ramnarain Ruia College considers quality improvement as a continuous process where every stake holder works towards set achievable goals and targets.
