The range of altitude varies from 1,400 meters in the Talla (Lower) Ramgarh valley located downhill to 1,900 meters in Malla (Upper) Ramgarh on elevation. The main facet of tourism in the Ramgarh hill station lies in its nature"s tranquillity and resplendence. Ramgarh is known as the "fruit bowl of Kumaon", owing to the verdantly growing orchards that the place houses. A variety of Himalayan fruits such as Apples, Apricots, Peaches and Pears grow in these orchards.

The place offers some of the most spectacular unobstructed views of the snow capped Himalaya Mountains. Once the cantonment of the British army, this hill station carries the legacy of some ancestral buildings that were used as inspection bungalows and temporary stay palaces for officers during the British colonial period.

Globally renowned poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and social worker Narain Swami had set up their ashrams at Ramgarh. Tagore had composed some of his compositions there. By Air: Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to Ramgarh, at a distance of about 76 kilometres. Cabs can be easily hired at the airport to access Ramgarh well connected with metalled road. The airport is connected to Delhi by daily flights.

By Rail: Kathgodam Railway Station is the nearest railhead to Ramgarh at a distance of 45 kilometres. It is well connected with the major cities of India like Lucknow, Kolkata, Delhi, etc. There are two trains running daily between Delhi and Kathgodam. Trains are frequent at Kathgodam as it is the gateway to the Kumaon region. Taxis and buses are available from Kathgodam to Ramgarh.

By Road: Though a remote destination, Ramgarh is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of the Kumaon region and the cities of North India. Buses are available from ISBT Anand Vihar, New Delhi, plying towards Haldwani, Nainital and Almora. Taxis are also available from major cities of the Kumaon and Garhwal regions to Ramgarh. Many private bus service providers operate luxury buses from Delhi to Kathgodam and Nainital, from where taxis can be availed to Ramgarh.

Best Season to visit Ramgarh
The pleasant climate prevalent in Ramgarh makes the place ideal for visiting in all seasons. The summers are pleasant with a maximum temperature of 30 degree C and a minimum of 20 degree C in the months of May and June. The winters from November to February are harsh and snow bound, with temperatures ranging between 2 degree C and 10 degree C. The monsoons from June to September bring medium rainfall. The festivals of Holi, Dussehra and Diwali are celebrated here with much enthusiasm. The ideal time to visit Ramgarh would be all throughout the year, except winters.
