Ramesh Rajaram Powar is an Indian Cricket player. He was born on 20th May, 1978 in Mumbai. He completed his education from Ruparel College of Science, Commerce and Arts in Matunga in Mumbai. He specializes as an off spin bowler but he is also a useful lower order batsman. Ramesh was selected for the first intake of National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru in 2000.
Cricket Career of Ramesh Powar
Ramesh Powar is a right arm off break bowler and a right handed batsman. Since his first innings he has delivered his best that had a lasting impact upon his selectors. on the He has largely played for teams like India, India Blue, Indian Board President`s XI, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai, Rajasthan Cricket Association President`s XI, and Reebok XI. He played an important role in the successful season of Mumbai in 2003-2004 seasons in the Ranji Trophy. Not only he took 20 wickets but also despite batting in the lower order he completed as the second-highest run scorer for his side with 418 runs at 46.
Ramesh has been a good consistent performer in domestic cricket for last four seasons. He is known for his great control on flight and speed.
Ramesh was selected initially to the Indian squad for their tour of Pakistan but he was dropped due to poor performance both in ball and bat. He came back to home and got 63 domestic wickets for 2005-06 and 50 wickets in the earlier season. He didn`t return for ODI side again till early 2006. However, when he took 63 domestic wickets for 2005-06 that he was recalled. He had taken over 50 wickets in a line in the second season.
However, in January 2007, he was dropped from the team. The reason was his injury and Anil Kumble came back as the second spinner in the lead up to the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

Ramesh was selected in the IPL in May 2008, for the Punjab Kings XI. He had picked up the crucial wicket of
Gautam Gambhir in the very first over he bowled. He had played for Kings XI Punjab in the first three seasons. Later in 2011 Ramesh played for the Kochi Tuskers Kerala franchise. Now he plays for Kochi Tuskers
Kerala team in IPL 2011.
