He has performed consistently in all formats of the game, and was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 1999 for his achievements in Indian Hockey.

Early life of Ramandeep Singh
Ramandeep Singh Grewal was born on 8th August in the year 1971 in Chandigarh in the Indian state of Punjab. He studied at the Raekot Government School and graduated with a Masters degree from the Punjab Agricultural University. He was a precocious hockey player, and excelled first in the district championships, followed by the state school tournaments and the state championships. His flair for hockey was quickly recognised; and by the time of his graduation he was already a contender for a place in the national team.

Career of Ramandeep Singh
In the year 1995, this former midfielder field hockey player made his international debut for the Men`s National Team. Ramandeep Singh represented India in two successive, starting in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. At the 1996 Olympics India finished in eighth place. After four years, he captained the Indian team later in Sydney, Australia where he scored 3 goals and the team was in 7th position.

He was part of the Gold medal winning Hockey team at the 1998 Bangkok Asian games, where he scored 2 goals, and also part of the 1999 Asia Cup team, where India finished in 3rd place. He performed memorably in the 2000 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, where he scored the winning sudden death goal that placed India third in the event.

He presently serves as the Superintendent of Police in the Punjab Police. His current team is Punjab Police team. With his team he has played Senior Nationals on May 1997 at Bengaluru and National Games on Jun 1997 held at Bengaluru, where they finished at the first position.
