Rajasthan Cricket AssociationCricket Association was initially established as Rajputana Cricket Association at Ajmer in the year 1931. The state of Rajasthan (formerly known as Rajputana), has an ancient history of cricket playing, as the first match on the soil of Rajputana was played long back in the year of 1887 between the Mayo College and Govt. College at Ajmer. However, the first cricket organisation in Rajasthan was established before the first match took place and it was the Jaipur Cricket Club that was formed in 1873. The club has the honour of being one of the oldest cricket clubs in India and it enjoyed the patronage of H.H. the late Maharaja Sawai Ram Singhji.

The Rajasthan Cricket Association started participating in the Ranji Trophy tournament from the years of 1935-36. The RCA has the credit of organising a number of matches against several foreign teams visiting India. The Headquarter of the RCA was shifted from Ajmer to Udaipur in the month of November, 1956, when H.H Maharana Bhatwat Singh Ji of Mewar become the President of RCA. He revitalized the Association, as a great Patron of the game. Currently its headquarters is in Jaipur. The Rajasthan team appeared in the prestigious and leading domestic tournament in India, Ranji Trophy in the year of 1935 for the first time and the first Ranji trophy match played on the soil of Rajasthan was played at Ajmer in 1936.

The Rajasthan Cricket Association has done a great job by introducing a large number of talented and great cricketers to India during its journey so far. The most notable cricketers include the likes of Salim Durrani, G.R. Sunderum, C.G. Jodhi, Raj Singh Dungarpur, Hanumant Singh, Suryaveer Singh, Kailash Gatani, and Parthasarthy Sharma. The Rajasthan team has a glorious record in the Ranji Trophy, as it entered the finals of the tournament for a record nine times so far, including the first entry in 1961. Rajasthan Cricket Association created history in 2011 when its Team Rajasthan won the Ranji Trophy for the first time in the 77 year history of the tournament by beating Baroda on 15th January 2011 at Vadodara.

Another unique feature of the Rajasthan state and the Rajasthan Cricket Association is that here are a number of 25 cricket grounds in Rajasthan where first class cricket matches are played. However, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium of Jaipur, inaugurated in 1963, is the most popular among all of them and the latest venue in the state is the newly built Jhalawar District Sports Complex. The RCA is currently governed by Dr. C.P Joshi.
