They were born in a family that had had legendary music persona namely Pandit Ganesh Ji Misra (Great Grandfather), Pandit Sursahai Misra, Pandit Bade Ram Das Ji Misra (Grandfather), Pandit Hanuman Misra (Father), and the late Pandit Gopal Misra, the renowned Sarangi maestro (uncle).

Their training in the classical vocal music started under the expert tutelage of Pandit Hanuman Misra, Pandit Gopal Misra and Gayanacharya the late Pandit Bade Ram Das Ji Misra. Training from these music maestros helped Mishra brothers to enrich the rich cultural heritage of Indian classical music further. Today Mishra brothers are considered to be the front most proponents of the Banaras style of singing.

Apart from their talent in the domain of classical music, Rajan Misra & Sajan Misra has also exhibited their brilliance in the field of academics. Pandit Rajan Misra has done his post graduation in Sociology from the Banaras Hindu University. Pandit Sajan Misra is also a graduate degree holder from the Banaras Hindu University. Rajan & Sajan Misra both together have drawn-out the repertoire of their gharana through their performances throughout the world. Their performances have received well acclamation from audience around the world especially for their Khayal, Tarana, Tappa and Bhajan execution.

They have so far released over 20 music albums ranging from classical Khayal gayaki, to semi-classical tappa and bhajans The Mishra Brothers` performances can be distinguished as those performances are being treated as the `methodical treatment of the Raaga with exquisite ornamentation and taans`. That means they present their repertoire in a highly organized way with the beautification of taans. They have performed through out the world.
