Raivata was the son of Priyavrata. He was the Manu of the fifth Manwantara.
Four Manus were descended from Priyavrata who in consequence of propitiating Vishnu by his devotions obtained these rules of the Manwantara, for his posterity. The Markandeya Purana contains a legend of the birth of Raivata, as the son of king Durga, by the nymph Revati, sprung from the constellation of Revati.
