Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami
Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami was a disciple of the Vaishnava saint Chaitanya and an influential member of the six Goswamis of Vrindavan.

Raghunatha Bhatta GoswamiRaghunatha Bhatta Goswami (1505-1579 CE) is regarded by followers of Gaudiya tradition as an ideal practitioner of the Bhakti yoga. He was born in a devotional family. Tapana Mishra, his father, was a spiritual Vaishnava. He became adept in Sanskrit grammar and rhetoric and well versed in the scriptures. When his studies were complete his father sent him to Puri and had spent eight months in service of Chaitanya. Chaitanya was pleased and offered Raghunatha a tulsi garland from around his own neck.

After his parents died he returned to Puri where he spent his days in Chaitanya`s service. Chaitanya then sent Raghunatha to Vrindavan in order to study the Bhagavata Purana and other Vedic and Puranic scri ptures under supervision of Rupa Goswami and Sanatana Goswami.

His disciples had built a temple for Sri Gaura Govinda in Vrindavan. He is offered respects as a guru by all of the current lineages of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition.
