Early Life of Raghav Mathur
Raghav Mathur belongs to the first generation Canadian era, though his family originally hails from Uttar Pradesh. He was raised in a trilingual community and for that very reason he can speak English, French and Hindi very fluently. From an affectionate age of 5 years, Raghav started receiving training under the tutelage of Guru Nishi Kant Bali.
Raghav Mathur was born on 2nd April in the year 1981 in Toronto and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This talented young boy started writing music from the age of 15. Raghav was very much passionate about the pop genre of R& B. When he was 16 years of age, Raghav Mathur won an award for his composition from the National Songwriters Association of America. When he was just 17, he received scholarships from several music schools in America.
Career of Raghav Mathur
Raghav Mathur moved to Los Angeles in order to hone his vocal skills under Seth Riggs. Seth Riggs has trained stalwarts like Madonna, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. After one year he moved to Liverpool, England to study in the Institute of Performing Arts. He joined the R&B band `11/7` during his days in college. The band was nominated for a `Mobo` for best unsigned artist. After winning such highly esteemed honour, Raghav is still attached to respected DJ and producer 2Play, for the purpose of working. This association finally resulted in the production of two records: `This can`t be right` and `So Confused`. In the year 2004, the album `So Confused` reached the 7th position in the British Charts. Under his own name Raghav has released an album called `Can`t Get Enough`. The album again entered the top ten charts. The song `It Can`t Be Right` is yet another production in association with 2Play. It once more shot up in the top ten hit. Before the album, Raghav released one more track under his name, `Let`s Work It Out`. In future, he is looking forward to tie up with Missy Elliot or Timbaland.
In the year 2009, Raghav Mathur announced that he had signed a recording contract with Universal Music India and subsequently released his second album Identity. The album was exclusively released in India. The lead single, "My Kinda Girl" was released for overseas fans and featured hip hop musician, Redman. The album also featured a tribute song called "Quincy Jones" which was dedicated to the American record producer Quincy Jones.
In the year 2010, Raghav Mathur signed his first North American record deal with Canadian label Cordova Bay and released his third album The Phoenix. The first single from the album was the Labyrinth-produced "So Much", which was commercially released in Canada and features Kardinal Offishall. The song was nominated for "R&B Soul Recording of the Year" at the 2011 Canadian Juno Awards. The song was released in conjunction with a Hindi song entitled "Kya Se Kya Ho Gaya" which featured a sample from the song "Hold Yuh" by Gyptian.
In early 2012, Raghav Mathur collaborated with A. R. Rahman and Shilpa Rao for the song "Ishq Shava" from the Jab Tak Hai Jaan, where Shahrukh Khan was in the main role. He collaborated with him again for the song "Mawalli Qawalli" for the film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil. In September 2012, Raghav Mathur was signed to Ultra Records in New York City. Ultra released Raghav`s single "Fire" in the USA and worldwide in January 2013.
In July 2013, Raghav Mathur and rapper Tom E were featured in the single "One More Round" by Michael Mind, as well as on "Celebrate" by Apache Indian about a month later.
In the year 2015, Raghav Mathur released "Until the Sun Comes Up" featuring by Abhishek Bachchan and Nelly.
