Qila Mubarak is a historical monument located at Bathinda in Punjab. This fort with national importance is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is the oldest surviving fort in India. Qila Fort with a height of 118 feet has 36 bastions in it. The fort was constructed by Raja Dab, the ancestor of Vena Pal, during 90-110 A.D. It was constructed to prevent the Huns from invading the kingdom of Emperor Kanishka. The fort has undergone several changes by different rulers of that region. Razia Sultana, the first Empress of Delhi, was imprisoned in Qila Mubarak. Hindu chronicles of Kashmir described the fort a Jaipal"s capital.
