Priyadarshini Govind , Bharatnatyam DancerPriyadarshini Govind`s line of work is Bharatanatyam though she is a commerce graduate with Mass Communication degree. She had her arangetram in the year 1974 under the endorsement and guidance of the Mylapore Fine Arts Club, Madras. This illustrious Bharatnatyam Dancer has been performing in all the major centers in India. On concert tours, she has also journeyed in a widespread way in Europe, North America, South Africa and Asia. Some of her major performances include: Paris Yuva Utsav at Kanpur, Festival of India,; Cultural Tour to Afghanistan, Tour to South Africa, organsied by the Sangeet Natak Akademi; Swarna Samaroh and the The Khajuraho Fetsival;

Priyadarshini has also carried on workshops for the SPIC MACAY, Indian Rural and Cultural Development along with Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan in addition to her many noteworthy performances. She has also executed a television serial on dance. Sri Swamimalai K. Rajarathnam and Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan were her Gurus.

Amongst the present Bharata Natyam dancers, Priyadarshini is one of the most sought after proponent of bharatnatyam. For her stupendous performances and significant contribution to the field of Indian classical dance, she has received many awards and honours. These include: "Kalaimamani", which is considered as the highest award of the state of Tamil Nadu; "Vasanthalakshmi & Narasimhachari" Talent Endowment Award conferred by the Narada Gana Sabha; "Singar - Maini" given by the Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. Presently Priyadarshini Govind lives in Madras (presently known as Chennai). In an active manner, she is involved in cultural affairs.
