His full name is Praveen Kumar Sakat Singh. He was born on October 2, 1986 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Praveen Kumar`s bowling style is right-arm medium and he is a right-handed batsman. Praveen has played under the teams of Air India, India Red, and Uttar Pradesh and also played in national team of India. Praveen Kumar played in India vs. Pakistan One-Day International at Jaipur on November 18, 2007 and scored only 12 runs.

In Twenty20, Praveen has played 71 matches and has total 343 runs. The highest score of Praveen Kumar in Twenty 20 is 76 runs with an average of 12.70. Praveen Kumar made his repute as fast bowler with an ability to toil away unresponsive Indian wickets. He can also hit down the order as a surprise opener. He debuted in the Uttar Pradesh under-19 team with RP Singh, Piyush Chawla and Suresh Raina in the same team. But very soon, he entered the Ranji team and picked up 9 wickets against Haryana. His continuous good performance gave him the place in Indian team touring Kenya in 2007.

Praveen Kumar gave his excellent performance with both ball and bat in hand. In a triangular tournament among India, Sri Lanka A and Kenya, he won the Man-of-the-Series award.
