Damodar Sena ascended the throne in 410 A.D. with the name of Pravar sena II. Though he did not conquer new territories yet he was successful in preserving and maintaining the empire inherited by his ancestors. He had given many fields and villages in charity. A copper plate inscription indicates that he had founded a new city named `Pravarpur`. Some scholars are of the view that he shifted his capital from `Nagardhana` to Pravarpur. He was a follower of Saiva religion. To establish friendly relations with the Kadamba dynasty, he married his son, Narendra Sena, with `Ajita bhattarika`, who was the daughter of Kadamba king.
