Pransukh Manilal Nayak was a Gujarati performer belonging to a family of traditional actors in Jagudana, Mahesana district, and son of the outstanding Bhavai actor Manilal Nayak. After some years in school, at the age of 9 he joined a Bhavai troupe. He was trained under Jaishankar Sundari, Bapulal Nayak, and Suraj ram Nayak, starting as a female impersonator in Bhavai and then diversifying into other parts, mainly of comedians.

His lively portrayal of the second heroine in Kumli kali or "Delicate Bud" in 1925 made him famous, followed by his marvellously free acting in College kanya or "College Girl" in 1925. He entered the modem Gujarati theatre through Natmandal and Darpana, making a name with Rasiklal Parikh`s Mena Gurjari or "Mena of Gujarat" in 1953. In this play he acted the Brahman, and Dalpatram`s Mithyabhiman or `False Vanity` in 1955. In this he performed as Jivram Bhatt, the highest peak of comedy. He set up his own group toward the end of his life to stage educational drama for school children. This was a noteworthy attempt. Pransukh Manilal Nayak died in 1989.
