Pradyota dynasty is one of the ancient dynasties of ancient India. The Pradyota dynasty ruled over Avanti, now known as Madhya Pradesh.

Pradyota dynasty is succeeded by Barhadratha dynasty in Magadha. This was confirmed in the Indian Puranas. According to the Vayu Purana, Pradyotas dynasty of Avanti annexed Magadha and ruled there for 138 years from 799-684 BC. Palaka, the son of the Avanti king Pradyota, conquered Kaushambi (now Kaushambi District), making the kingdom powerful with pomp.

According to both Buddhist texts and Jain texts, one of Pradyota dynasty tradition was that king`s son would kill his father to become the successor. During the time of Pradyota, Magadha became hub of crime. Being tired of the dynastic feuds and the crimes, the people of Magadha rose up in civil revolt and elected Haryanka to become the king in 684 BC. This led to the emergence of the Haryanka dynasty in Magadha.

However, Shishunaga who defeated the last Pradyota king Nandivardhana and destroyed the Haryanka dynasty of Magadha in 413 BCE conquered Pradyota dynasty continued to rule in Avanti until it. The Rulers of Pradyota rulers are Pradyota Mahasena, Palaka, Visakhayupa, Ajaka or Aryaka, Varttivarddhana or Nandivardhana.
