Pop music is one of the popular genres in Indian music. When it becomes too much to say then the romantic yearning of music appears that can then offer words to silence. From the remote past of the ancient rimes music has captivated men with its entire elucidation. In India, music is as old as the Indian culture. Pop Music in India is somewhat a fusion of Indian folk and classical music where the modish aspects are ideally introduced amidst loud beats and contemporary instruments. Indian pop music was somewhat an alien art form to the Indians until the late 1970s to early 1980s. Although Pop music was always there as the form of the folk music yet, it is with the major success of "Alisha Chinoy" who has been later reckoned as the "Queen of Indi Pop, Indian Pop Music gained an artistic dimension. That was just the beginning of the journey of Indi Pop and later the Indian film industry offered rather a voguish facet to the ethnicity of Indi pop, which was once entirely a genre of the folk music.

The influence of the "western bands" also aided in taking Indian pop music to the next level of maturity. Indian pop music as a genre although remains unknown in the west yet it is during the 90s in the land of Europe "Asian Massive Scene" gave birth to a number of Indo- Brit musicians who later supported in creating that exact fusion of Indian and western music. Quite ideally therefore the pop Music in India gained a global touch in the 90s and emerged a numerous Pop singers who were particularly popular as non-film singers. The history of Indian music sawa new era as the industry of Pop music expanded. Baba Sehgal, Sagarika, Shaan, Colonial Cousins (Hariharan and Leslie Lewis), Sonu Nigam and Lucky Ali all then became an insignia of the new developed art form - Indian Pop Music.

Recently, it is with the remixes of the old Hindi songs and with the modernization of those songs whilst adding beats to them, Indian Pop music has taken somewhat a curious turn. Indian Pop music is therefore these days not only the unification of western Rocks or the hard jazz but lot more. Pop music whispers the eternal beats of India. Amidst its unconventional beats, chic implemental improvisation Indian Pop Music still echoes the traditional music of India in an elegant way.
