Perunchani Dam, Tamil NaduPerunchani Dam is an irrigation dam, located at Perunchani, Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu. The Dam area encompasses about 42 km of land. It lies close to Nagercoil, the administrative headquarters-town of Kanyakumari District and the town of Kulasekhram.

The Perunchani dam is constructed between two hillocks across the river Paralayar. The dam is a straight gravity brickwork dam, rising to a height of 373.10 metres and 275.28 metres of bulkhead section. A drainage gallery of the dam is around 1.52 ´ 2.29 metres, which has been provided in the middle river section for a length of 45.70 metres. This section of the dam serves a longitudinal inspection chamber and also as an outlet for the seepages from the foundation. The Perunchani dam is located amidst the pictorial surrounding of the Western Ghats and the lush greenery of the hills around.
