P.C. Sorcar Junior happens to be an Indian magician who is the son of the great magician P.C. Sorcar, also known as senior P.C. Sorcar and the "Father of Indian Magic."

P.C. Sorcar Junior, Indian Magician P.C. Sorcar Junior, an Indian magician from Kolkata, West Bengal, is the second son of famous Indian magician P. C. Sorcar. He is one of the most celebrated magicians in the country and has also received the Merlin Award in Magic. According to him, it is the presentation of the illusions that are most important in the domain of modern magic. P.C. Sorcar is better recognized for his magic troupe known as Indrajaal. Having a firm grip over the emotions of his audience, he has easily emerged as a master of presentation. P.C. Sorcar Junior can perform miracles, which are formed from his unique inventions. He has a supreme magical quality, which he has acquired from his father, P. C Sorcar Senior. P.C. Sorcar Junior is a magician whose art has crossed many frontiers of showmanship and creativity.

Early Life of P.C. Sorcar Junior
P.C. Sorcar Junior was born as Prodip Chandra Sorcar on 31st July 1946, in the famous Sorcar family. He received a Doctorate in Applied Psychology from the University of Calcutta. His earliest stage experience comprised him assisting his father at Kolkata`s New Empire in 1959. His first solo stage performance was held at Siliguri`s Railway Institute Hall in 1961.

P.C. Sorcar Junior as Magician
As a magician, P.C. Sorcar Junior`s development is a continuation of the tradition that made his father his Guru or teacher. He began performing in his teens, when he was still in school, forming a group of his own, and presenting some of his inventive items. In early 1971, Sorcar Jr. had just finished his M.Sc. final examinations, while his father was away in Japan on a tour. At the end of a show at the City Hall of Shibetsu, wherein P.C. Sorcar had declared that it would be his last performance, but the show would go on even if he were to die. He suffered a massive heart attack, and before breathing his last, expressed the wish that his son Prodip should continue his engagements.

His death on January 6, 1971, prodded P.C. Sorcar Junior immediately on to the international stage. The disciple`s son did not even have the time to indulge in his grief. When his father was being cremated in Kolkata, he was on stage for his first show in Sapporro, North Japan. In his show Indrajaal, which is a theatrical representation or realization of the wishful dreams of living happily, nothing seems to be impossible. Indrajaal is a troupe started by him that includes 48 tons of variant equipments, dozens of settings, 12 jadoo girls, 75 artists, systems of psychedelic laser lighting systems, authentic music, 400 and more brocade dresses and his own orchestra. The troupe shows more than 50 tricks of illusion. In 1989, a movie known as “Gili Gili Gili” was produced by Indrajaal productions. It is a movie for children directed by Iswar Chakroborty. P.C. Sorcar junior has been starred where he plays a double of both the antagonist and protagonist.

He is most popular among his audience for vanishing the Taj Mahal as well as the Amritsar Express. This happened when Junior P.C Sorkar bought a few acres of land at Baruipur, a suburb in the South of Kolkata to build the "City of Magic" or the "Jadoo Nagari". After a lot of tussles, he has only three of the acres of land at Baruipur that he bought now lingering. It was on these three acres that he first tried to make huge buildings disappear. The Baruipur experiments with laser, which gave enough heat to change the refractive index of air, finally gave way to the disappearing Taj Mahal and Victoria Memorial.

P.C. Sorcar Junior dignified the status of magic furthermore from the position where his father left it, to this futuristic mystery-spectacular-entertainment show for the intellectuals, successfully competing with the other forms of theatrical shows. He has followed and studied street magicians, snake charmers, yogis, and holy men to better understand the world unknown. This born innovator has always been busy preparing the new. Through a lifetime of exposure to magic and performance traditions, his magic has developed.

Personal Life of P.C. Sorcar Junior
Prodip is the second son of the late P.C. Sorcar, Senior (Pratul Chandra Sorcar). His elder brother, Prafulla and his younger brother Provas Chandra have also learned from their father. P. C. Sorcar`s mother, Basanti Sorcar, was a noted philanthropist, who has been a source of courage and inspiration to her son. His elder brother Prafulla is an Electrical Engineer by profession and younger brother Provas is a commercial pilot. P.C. Sorcar Junior married Jayashree, daughter of Sri Aroon Kumar Ghosh and Smt. Nilima Devi on 22 May 1972. They have three daughters, Maneka, Moubani and Mumtaz. Maneka has carried forward her family tradition and is a famous magician. The other two sisters are model and film actress in the Bengali Film industry.
