Pathra is a village in the Midnapore District of West Bengal. It is small village where numerous temples belonged to the Hindu and Jain religion concentrated there.
These temples have outstanding work of art. It is a site of hundreds of small temples dating back into antiquity and many of the temples are in a state of disrepair due in part to lack of any sort of preservation, succumbing to the waters of the Kasai River, and theft of bricks by local people.
A Non Governmental Organisation named Pathra Archaeological Preservation Committee, founded by Yeasin Pathan, has successfully persuaded the Archaeological Survey of India to restore the temples. Tourists can frequently visit these places and can easily experience the religious fervour along with the ruined and glorious history of Bengal History and the medieval art in Bengal.
