It is said that Pat silk is one of the variants of Muga silk and is one of the fine silk fabrics. Pat silk is an indigenous creation of Assam and is also named as Mulberry silk. Pat Silk is produced by Bombyxtextor silkworms which feed on mulberry leaves. It is usually brilliant white or off-white in colour. Its cloth can dry in shadow. Maintenance of Pat Silk Saree
Pat Silk is very durable, although on the outlook it might seem very delicate and lightweight. However, as is the case with most Silks, Pat sarees or any garment made out of Pat Silk should be dry cleaned and kept wrapped in a cloth. It should be taken out from time to time to check for any damage.
