Pao TribePao tribes of Madhya Pradesh have settled in different parts of this state. Following the tradition of most of the tribal communities of the Indian subcontinent, these Pao tribes too have taken up to the occupation of farming and cultivation.

The origin of this Pao tribal community is also quite enriched. There are quite a number of anthropologists who have traced the origin of this Pao tribal community. The popular saying is that these Pao tribes have descended from a `good-willed` dragon that used to protect these Pao tribes during hard times and difficult situations.

Cultural exuberance of the Pao tribal community has rightly being highlighted in other elements like clothes, festivals etc. Both the Pao males and females are very fond of wearing colorful dresses. These include black costumes and turquoise colored turbans.
