Pangot, UttarakhandPangot is a tiny village located at 15 kms from Nainital, in the state of Uttarakhand. It is a popular Indian Hill Station. The drive to Pangot passes through the thick forested region of Cheena Peak Range via Snow View Point and Kilbury, which offers excellent bird viewing spots. One can witness several types of Himalayan species along the way like Himalayan Griffon, Lammergeier, Blue winged Minla, Forktail, Rufous-Bellied Woodpecker, Khalij Pheasant, Rufous-Bellied Niltava and variety of Thrushes. A presence of at least 150 different species of birds has been recorded at Pangot and the surrounding areas. The numerous seasonal and perennial creeks and home to beautiful varieties of fauna and flora including barking dogs, leopards, yellow-throated Himalayan martens, sambhar, Ghorals and Himalayan palm civets.

The primary attraction of the place is its bird population. Many types of bird species are found in this part of the Himalaya Mountain. As Pangot is located at a distance of 15 km from Nainital, so the weather condition is more or less similar to the Nainital. It is also located near Kilbury, the Snow View Point, and Nainital, thus placing it at a strategically important location for lodging if you plan to visit all three. Also, lodging is much cheaper at Pangot compared to Nainital.
