Palyul Choekhorling Monastery is situated at Bir (placed at 6900ft, Bir is a village in the lap of the Himalayas, well-known for its tea gardens) in Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. This is one of the largest monasteries in India. This monastery is also known as Nyingmapa Buddhist Monastery and the monastery offers free education, lodging, clothing, medical care, and food for all the monks who are studying here.

The entry gate of Palyul Choekhorling monastery is intricately crafted featuring various beautiful designs and within the Nyingmapa, there are six principal lineages - Kathok, Palyul, Dzogchen, Shechen, Mindroling, and Dorje Drak which attracts a number of people.
