Padosan (1968) is a Hindi film that is directed by Jyoti Swaroop and written by Rajendra Krishan. The music in Padosan has been provided by R.D. Burman. Synopsis of Padosan
Padosan is a comic film that tells the story of a simple man "Bhola" played by Sunil Dutt who comes to the city after having an argument with his maternal uncle "Kunwar Pratap Singh" played by Om Prakash. He comes and lives with his aunt and falls in love with his neighbour, "Bindu" played by Saira Banu. Bhola sees that Bindu is deeply interested in music and is taking lessons from a South Indian music teacher, "Master Pillai" played by Mehmood. Bhola"s friends help him to woo the girl. Initially they are at loggerheads and to impress Bindu, Bhola presents himself as someone who can sing. Here comes his friend "Guru" played by Kishore Kumar who helps him with the singing part. Every time Bhola sings in front of Bindu, it is actually sung by Guru. The entire concept of playback singing is put into the plot.
One day Bindu finds out about Bhola"s lie. Enraged she decides to marry Masterji. While Bhola keeps on thinking about a way to get back Bindu, the wedding day arrives. On the wedding day Guru comes up with an idea. Bhola pretends to commit suicide and Guru places a false suicide note next to him. Bindu is shocked and cries inconsolably. As the truth is revealed to them she agrees to marry Bhola. Masterji steps down and the lovers get married.
