As per Hindu mythology, Padmanabha means Lotus-navel. Again with addition of Swami with Padmanabha, that is Padmanabha Swami means a name of Narayana. This is said in the south Indian countries.

Again one of the titles of the Travancore rajah was `the slave of Padmanabha.`
