Captain James Forsyth who belonged to the British Army discovered the area in the year 1857. Thus it became a hilly resort and also an infirmary for the British soldiers of the `Central Provinces` of Indian continent. Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh became their `summer capital`. The population of this place is 10000. Most of the people in Pachmarhi are connected with the Indian Army installations in the area. The lustrous greenery of this place and the eye catching waterfalls captured the attention of every tourist. The town area of Pachmarhi is under the administration of the Pachmarhi Cantonment Board, serving the Indian Army.
