Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Tamil NaduThe Our Lady of Lourdes Church is one of the ancient churches situated in the city of Tiruchirapalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Roman Catholic Basilica is devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. It was consecrated in the year 1840 A.D. The Christians came to Tamil Nadu almost 2000 years ago. It is thought that it was introduced to Tamil Nadu by St. Thomas Didymus. These people built many churches in several districts of the state as a place of worship. Our Lady of Lourdes Church is one of the three churches built in Tiruchirapalli district.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church has been designed and decorated in an artistic style. It has been adorned in the Gallo Catholic design. The church has neo Gothic spires and is also embellished with portraits of anguished scenes of crucifixion and matrydom. According to a note of cross religious pollination, icons of Virgin Mary have been garlanded with Hindu flower necklaces.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church celebrates many festivals attracting many devotees. Every year on 11th February the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated with great pomp and show.
