Orissa Cricket Association is the administrative body of the Cricket related activities in the Indian state of Orissa. It is 40 years old and has great achievements. The Orissa Cricket Association has its Head Quarter at Babarabti Stadium Complex. Initially the game of Cricket was controlled by the former Orissa Athletic Association. The Orissa Cricket Association was formed in the year 1961. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI. It conducts and hosts the game from grass root stage to international level.
Activities of Orissa Cricket Association
The Orissa Cricket Association works towards promoting, supporting and developing Cricket by conducting numerous League Tournaments, Tournaments for the age group Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19, Under-22 and Under-25 categories besides organising and conducting National Tournaments.
The OCA started a local Twenty-20 tournament, Odisha Premier League (OPL) in the lines of Indian Premier League in 2011.
The Orissa Cricket Association is functioning as a State level Association as per the provisions of its constitution vested with power to control the game of Cricket through out the State of Orissa and to do all such acts as deemed necessary to attend to the Aim & Objects of the Association.
Orissa Cricket Academy was inaugurated on February 8, 2009 that is managed by the Association. The sole objective and aim of the Orissa Cricket Association is to develop the game of Cricket and Cricketing affairs in the State. It conducts Coaching Camps, Inter-District tournaments for all age groups, School Tournaments as a routine feature. It aims to draw out hidden talent from the grass root, depute players to National Cricket Association, Bengaluru, Zonal Cricket Association, and Kolkata for specialized training. Association releases Grants to all its units for Cricket Play and its development. By its sincere effort and earnest endeavour try to see that Orissa Cricketers of different age groups find place in National and International level.
