Nutan Comics was one of the pioneers of Indian comics and was very famous during 1970-1980. But due to lack of improved quality, the comics magazine gradually declined.

Nutan ComicsNutan Comics was one of the most popular comics during the early years of the Indian comics magazine industry. It was Published and distributed by Nutan Pocket Books during 1970-1980. Nutan Comics was one of the pioneer Indian comics along with Amar Chitra Katha and Chandamama. But the popularity of Nutan Comics waned as the quality of the comics including the plots and illustrations, remained average over the years. It was one of the main reasons that Nutan Comics never rose to the levels of its competitors and achieved success like Diamond Comics or Manoj Comics. Nutan Comics was basically published in Hindi language.

Most of the stories dealt with stories of Knights, fairytales, folklores, adventure, mythology and some morality themes. Nutan Comics featured several regular characters in their Comics Universe. Some of its renowned characters are Muni Chacha, Amar Akbar, Aafatchand Musibatchand, Rajan, Raka, Jonga, Chutki, Bhootnath and Mama Ji, who was an elderly person and different problems with his wisdom and wit. The character of Mama Ji was an inspired version of Chacha Chaudhary from Diamond Comics.

Meghdoot was another famous Indian comics character that was inspired by the western concept of Flash Gordon. Meghdoot traveled throughout the universe in his conquests of exploring new planets and civilisations. He met with different people and alien species and helped in solving their problems.
