No Smoking, Indian movieThe Indian movie, `No Smoking` is written and directed by the `Black Friday` famous Anurag Kashyap. The film, stars John abraham which also has Ayesha Takia, Paresh Rawal and Ranvir Shorey, revolves around K played by John Abraham, who is a self-obsessive chain smoker. Be it his friends, colleagues or his wife Anjali played by Ayesha Takia, he disrespects everybody around him. This film extensively shot in Mumbai, Russian Federation, Kazakistan and Siberia.

Synopsis of `No Smoking`
John Abraham plays the central character K in the Bollywood movie `No Smoking`. K is A 30 year old man who thinks of himself as quite smart and refuses to listen to anyone, senior or junior. He is very much confident about himself and whatever he does, he is a chain smoker in the true sense. Catching hold of this habit from a very young age, he hasn`t looked back ever since. K is also revealed to have smoked spiked ganja i.e. marijuana and have landed up in hospital due to it.

Now, K is addicted to nicotine. Nothing can come between him and his cigarette, neither his wife, nor his friends and not even his own life. His well wishers, his wife and friends have tried in vain to see to it that he lets go of this habit but all to no avail. Both K`s friend Abbas Tyrewala played by Ranvir Shorey and the doctor who treats K`s brother offer to set up an appointment at a rehabilitation center called Prayogshaala. They claim that the centre will rid K of his dreadful habit. K finally relents after his wife Anjali leaves him, unable to take the strain K`s smoking places on their relationship. The doctor, though, goes wild when he learns that K had his appointment fixed up by Abbas.

The Indian movie `No smoking` is both a chilling and blackly amusing tale that maintains a constant, relentless atmosphere of disorientation and quirkiness, right up to the surreal ending. The man who could save him was Baba Bengali Sealdahwale played by Paresh Rawal. Baba Bengali runs a rehabilitation center which uses unconventional methods to enable it`s patients to quit. The front for Prayogshala is a fake shop called Kalkatta Carpets. A simple looking man who could just be found at every nook and corner, even though with a slight, he was autocratic and dictatorial but ensured guaranteed results. He has his own way of curing his patients. It`s in fact quite simple. They only have to follow all his orders. And if they don`t, he turns out to be their worst enemy.

Baba Bengali Sealdahwale agrees to help K but before that asks him to sign an agreement. Once signed, it cannot be withdrawn. K agrees to sign, thinking he will break out of it according to convenience. But he is proven wrong when he breaks the rule for the first time. As a punishment, his car is blown up. K is not alone as he had a pretty wife in the form of Anjali. As a young woman who cared for her husband in spite of his addiction to smoking, she herself was addicted to television soaps. K also had a pretty secretary for company, named Honey played by Ayesha Takia in her double role.

Meanwhile K also had to contend with his friend Abbas who himself was a cigarette addict once and had introduced smoking to K. but his love for his wife made him look for a solution and he quits smoking. Baba Bengali helped him a lot in the process. This was the reason why he introduced K to Baba. After overcoming the shock of his car blast K makes another attempt at smoking but once again he has to pay a very heavy price. Baba Bengali blocks all the roads and K realises he can get out of it only if he quits smoking. At the same time, he also starts suspecting his wife and assumes that she is behind all this. Baba Bengali tells K that if he lights up a second cigerette his fingers may be chopped off and he won`t have anything to hold that cigerette with. If he still persists with his habit and doesn`t quit smoking, he may lose the only person he has loved the most. In the end, he may get a final choice to choose between his own very life and the nicotine stick. Now K has to decide is cigarette dearer to him than his life, than his wife or than his fingers. The film definitely has a chilling effect to all the smokers under the sun
