Niti Valley is a valley in Uttarakhand. It is situated to the east of the Mana Valley.

Niti Valley, UttarakhandNiti Valley is situated to the east of the Mana Valley in the hinterland of Joshimath, Uttarakhand. The valley Niti is located at an elevation of 3,600 m. Niti is the most important village of this valley as it is the last Indian settlement before the Indo-China border. To the north of this village is the Niti Pass (5,800 m) leading to southern Tibet. The region receives heavy snowfall.

People of Niti Valley
The inhabitants of the valley are the members of the Bhotia scheduled tribe. They move from their alternative villages (which are in the lower range of Himalayas) to the valley during summer and stay in the Niti valley from April to October. All kind of traditional rituals are performed during this period of stay by the community.

The nearby places of interest in the Niti Valley include Niti Temple, Faila Temple in Gamshali, Panchnag Temple in Bampa, Pyaar – the grass land, Malari, Dronagiri Mountain, Nanda Devi Temple, Nanda Devi National Park and Tapovan.

Villages in Niti Valley
There are 24 villages in the Niti Valley namely Ghamsali, Bampa, Farkya, Kailashpur, Maher Gaon, Malari and Tolma. Malari village is still the largest summer settlement because it is a major trading center. This valley was once a flourished trade route until 1962 between the Tibetan plateau and Indian sub-continent.

To reach the Niti Valley, the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport on Rishikesh-Dehradun Road at 352 km and the nearest railway stations are Dehradun (378km) and Haridwar (361km).
