NH7 Weekender is a vivacious music festival organized at different cities of India presenting vibrant and diverse independent musical genres to the music lovers. Also referred as the `happiest music festival`, it is held between the months of October and December. The three day festival was first held in the city of Pune in the year 2012 from 10th to 12th December at Koregaon Park. The inaugural edition was conceptualized by Vijay Nair, Martin Elbourne and Stephen Budd and was organized by Only Much Louder`s festival division. Bacardi is the official sponsor of this exquisite music festival. In 2011 NH7 Weekender was voted as "India`s best music festival" by CNNGo. Over years, NH7 Weekender has gradually gained prominence as one of the most cherished and popular music festivals where music lovers find paradise amidst the spirited ambience and diversely splendid musical performances.
History of NH7 Weekender
NH7 Weekender started with the very simple concept of creating an event which can present the music lovers with different genres of music. Vijay Nair, an author, was the driving force behind the festival who had put on substantial efforts for providing a memorable experience to both the artists and fans. NH7 Weekender was a great step for promoting the Indian music festivals concentrating on non Bollywood music.
Stages of NH7 Weekender
NH7 Weekender follows a specific pattern in which the artists of various genres are featured in the festival. `Bacardi Black Rock Arena` comprises acts belonging to alternative rock/heavy metal genre. `Eristoff Wolves Den` presents the mainstream electronica acts. In `Dewarists Stage` artists associated with soul acts and folk rock perform. Reggae and dub culture acts are featured in `Pepsi Dub Station` and it is hosted by DJ MoCity. Upcoming artists including singers as well as songwriters get exposure in the `Other Stage`. The `Together Stage` was introduced in 2011 edition of NH7 Weekender in which recognized artists from India jammed on stage together. A giant ferry wheel covered with canvas and projecting visuals was the highlight of this stage.
Other Editions of NH7 Weekender
The second edition of NH7 Weekender was organized in Pune near Magarpatta City. Apart from music, the festival featured a tattoo convention with the participation of 30 tattoo artists including the renowned and international ones. Third edition of the festival was held in three cities including Delhi, Pune and Bengaluru. The year 2013 marked the celebration of fourth edition of NH7 Weekender. This edition added the city of Kolkata among the venues.
