Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary, Mizoram is amongst the most famous wildlife reserves of this state which is characterised by the presence of Tropical Evergreen and Semi-Evergreen Forests and various wild animals.

Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary, Aizawl, MizoramNgengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is located close to the border region of the countries of India and Bangladesh and is based in the north-eastern Indian state of Mizoram. The wildlife sanctuary is existent at a distance of about 296 kms away from Aizawl in Mizoram. It is present at an altitude measuring about 200 metres till 1200 metres above sea level and about seven villages flank this sanctuary. Five Beat Officers and one Range Officer has been entrusted the responsibility of supervising this sanctuary and they are all under the administrative control of the DFO or Divisional Forest Officer of Chhimtupui Forest Division. It occupies an area of nearly 110 square kilometres. It is believed that the Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most renowned and beautiful wildlife reserves which is situated in this Indian state. Innumerable wildlife lovers make a beeline for visiting this region which boasts of a vast number of wild animals and diverse flora.

Flora of Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary
Semi-Evergreen Forests and virgin Tropical Evergreen Forests are observed in the Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary, besides a wide variety of Indian flora. A major portion of this sanctuary is covered with rich growths of Bamboo and other kinds of vegetation. Such kind of dense forests act as natural habitats of several wild creatures residing here. Different kinds of botanical plants are also present in the sanctuary.

The sanctuary possesses numerous wild beasts including Tiger, Hoolock Gibbon, Barking Deer, Elephant, Leaf Monkey, Clouded Leopard, Gaur, Rhesus Macaque, Sambhar, Common Langur, Wild Boar and many more. Tragopan, Sun-Bird, Hornbill, Thrush, Pen-Pheasant, Flower-Pecker and others are a few of the birds which dwell in this sanctuary.
