Neil Nitin Mukesh, Indian ActorNeil Nitin Mukesh is an Indian actor who has gained prominence in the film industry through his performances in Hindi movies. He is also known as the grandson and son of famed singers Mukesh and Nitin Mukesh. He had appeared in the movies Vijay and Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii in 1988 and 1989 as a child artist. Later he decided to pursue a career in the acting world. He initiated his career in the year 2007 with Sriram Raghavan`s movie Johnny Gaddar for which he received great appreciations.

Early Life of Neil Nitin Mukesh
Neil Nitin Mukesh was born on 15th of January 1982 to a Punjabi family in Mumbai. His parents are Nishi Mukesh and Nitin Mukesh, who is a playback singer and the son of famous Bollywood singer Mukesh Chand Mathur. Neil was named by Lata Mangeshkar after the astronaut Neil Armstrong. Neil did his schooling from Greenlawns High School and completed his higher education from HR College in Mumbai. He did his graduation in commerce at the insistence of his father. Despite of having a family of singers, Neil decided to become an actor as he once stated that acting is his passion. He had also attended a workshop of four months at Kishore Namit Kapoor`s acting institute where he was trained by Anupam Kher.

Career of Neil Nitin Mukesh
Neil Nitin Mukesh started his film career with a Sriram Raghavan`s thriller movie Johnny Gaddar in the year 2007. Although the movie failed at the box office, he earned accolades and critical acclamation for his performance. His next venture was in 2009 when he was featured in a science-fiction thriller Aa Dekhen Zara with Bipasha Basu, where he played the role of a struggling photographer who had inherited a camera from his scientist grandfather. Neil`s acting in the movie got mixed reviews. Kabir Khan`s New York was his next film in the same year in which he was starred with John Abraham, Irrfan Khan and Katrina Kaif. His performance received praises from the critics. His last movie of the year was Madhur Bhandarkar`s Jail that portrayed the life of prisoners in Indian jails. Though the movie was a commercial failure, his acting was stated as extraordinary by some critics. His next movies included Pradeep Sarkar`s Lafangey Parindey and Sudhir Mishra`s Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, both in 2010.

In the next year Neil appeared in Vishal Bharadwaj`s 7 Khoon Maaf with Priyanka Chopra. The movie was based on a short story of Ruskin Bond, Susanna`s Seven Husbands. In 2012, he acted in Abbas-Mustan`s Players. Neil Nitin Mukesh`s ventures in 2013 included movies like Bejoy Nambiar`s action-drama David, Eros International`s 3G and Susi Ganeshan`s Shortcut Romeo.

Other Activities of Neil Nitin Mukesh
Neil Nitin Mukesh started an NGO in the year 2009 for supporting the needy women and providing them shelter, food and vocational training. He named the project after his grandmother, Saral Devi. He also joined Volkswagen to support an environmental campaign known as "Think Blue". It was an initiative for raising water scarcity awareness among people and also includes other pressing ecological issues.

Neil Nitin Mukesh received International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) for Face of the Year in 2008. In the same year he was also awarded with Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards for Best Actor in a Negative Role and Zee Cine Awards for Critics Special Award, both for his first move Johnny Gaddar.
