The Nehru Stadium is known as the club of Maharashtra Ground, is a multi purpose stadium, and is located in Pune, India. The ground, built in 1969, is mainly used for cricket matches. The total capacity of the stadium is 25,000. The ground is the home to Maharashtra Cricket Team who represents the state of Maharashtra in Ranji Trophy.
International Cricket Played at Nehru Stadium
The Nehru Stadium has over the hosted 11 ODI matches that include two World Cup matches (in 1987 and 1996). The first ever ODI match that was played on this ground was in the year 1984 between Indian and England. However, the ground is yet to host a Test Match.
One of the massive upsets that occurred on this very ground was between West Indies and Kenya in a low scoring encounter in the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
