Nayan Ramlal Mongia was born on 19th December 1969 in Baroda or Vadodara. He was a former Indian cricket player represented his country at the highest level. Apart from Indian team he also played his domestic cricket for Baroda team, under Baroda Cricket Association. He played as a right-hand batter and a wicketkeeper. Currently, he works as a cricket analyst for various news channels.
He made his first international tour to England in the year 1990, and he impressed Alan Knott to a great extent, who though that Nayan was immensely natural and had an easy going flair in his game. Due to the presence of Kiran More in the side, Mongia had to spend much of his time as a second fiddle keeper for India. Mongia made it to the Indian team in the mid 1990. An efficient wicketkeeper, Mongia was equally at home keeping to Javagal Srinath or Anil Kumble.
Nayan Mongia has the best score of 152 that came against Australian team. He was dropped from the Indian team following the match fixing allegation. Mongia retired from first class cricket in December 2004. Nayan Mongia`s approach to the game has been refreshingly different. He was modest, friendly and unassuming by nature, but extremely professional towards his game.
