Nayaks of Kalahasti ruled the principalities of Kalahasti and Vandavasi. They belonged to the caste of Velama.

Nayaks of Kalahasti include Chennappa Naicker and his son Venkatapathy. They served as loyalists to the Aravidu Dynasty of Vijayanagara Empire. Chennappa Nayaka was a trusted general of Sriranga Deva Raya. The capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai is named in his honour.

Yachamanendu was one of the famous chiefs of this dynasty. He was a loyalist of Venkatapati Deva Raya as well as Sriranga II. He was the son of Kasturiranga, another well known general of Kalahasti. He helped Venkatapati in order to capture territory from the Deccan Sultans. He also quelled rebellions by Nayaks of Vellore and Madurai. Yachamanendu saved Sriranga`s son Ramadeva by secretly taking him out of the Vellore prison, with the help of a washer man. He fought on behalf of Ramadeva at Toppur with the help of Raghunatha of Tanjore and killed Jaggaraya thereby seizing his Gobburi Estates.
