Location of Navsari
The city of Navsari is located in Southern Gujarat and is situated near the Purna River, within a few kilometres of the river`s delta, which is west of the city and empties into the Gulf of Khambhat.

History of Navsari
The famous Salt March leaded by Mahatma Gandhi and his followers in 1930 passed through Navsari on the way to Dandi beach from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. At Dandi beach, Gandhi and his followers defied the British authorities by making salt, and this act signified the start of non-violent resistance to British rule, which culminated in Indian independence in 1947.

The weather of Navsari is sunny from September to May, rainy from June to August. The average annual rainfall of Navsari is 122 centimetres.

Navsari is known for its floriculture activities and sugar business. The prime sectors of Navsari are agro and food processing industries, textiles, drugs and pharmaceuticals, mineral related industries, and marine based industries. The Sayaji Vaibhav Library is an important public building located in Navsari. The Meherji Rana library at Tarota Bazaar boasts a very good collection of literary works and the visitors can see some of the oldest texts of the Indian Zoroastrian community. The Clock Tower and Old Post Office Building serve as important landmarks for the city`s main market, known as `Mota Bazaar`. There is also a statue of Dadabhai Naoroji within the town. Dudhia Talao is the major market and commercial center of Navsari that was once a lake. There is a well-known ophthalmic hospital called Rotary Eye Hospital near Dudhia Talao, built in the early 1970s. The regionally popular Ashapura Temple is situated near Dudhia Talao.

There are two lakes in the city of Navsari. It is namely Dudhiya Talav, which means lake in Gujarati, Sharbatiya Talav. Chijgam, Viraval and Machhad are the tourist locations in Navsari.

The nearest local airport from Navsari is at Surat, 30 km north of Navsari, with the nearest international airports being Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at Mumbai (Bombay), 260 km to the south and to the north the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad. Navsari also lies on the terminal point of Mumbai-Delhi railway link.
