National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum, is situated at the Pragati Maidan, on Bhairon Road, of New Delhi. For above three long decades, this museum has celebrated the indigenous traditions of handicrafts and handlooms.

The accumulation of craft-specimens, conservation of traditional crafts, revival of fading traditions, publication of related research documents and socio-economic betterment of the status of craftpersons are some of the worth-mentioning aims of the National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum, New Delhi.

One of the prime attractions of this museum, is the village complex . It consists of 15 constructs, signifying village houses, courtyards and shrines from various states, covering an area of 5 Acre.

The National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum, New Delhi, acts as the vast repertory of around 20,000 articles . These are the most uncommon and discrete examples of the native tradition of crafts.

Republic Day, Holi, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and the Diwali are the official holidays for this National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum, New Delhi . The scheduled timings for visiting the Exhibition Galleries and the Village Complex is from 10a.m. to 5p.m. Again the same for Crafts Demonstration and Crafts Museum Shop happen to be 10a.m. to 5.30p.m. While that of the Administration and Library is 9.30a.m. to 5p.m.

The National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum, New Delhi, is a living example of how best talent can be honored, and utilized to the fullest potential. Moreover, the museum, complements the objectives of the Government and relevant NGOs to improve the handicrafts and handlooms, not only in our own country, but to provide the necessary impetus to the foreign enterprises too.
