Nashik is located about 180 kilometers from capital city of Maharashtra, Mumbai. It is about 220 km from Pune which is located in Pune District.

Nashik is the city of Hindu temples. Nashik has the historical, mythological and also traditional importance. Nashik is one of those four prestigious cities where Sinhastha Kumbh Mela held once every 12 years. In Nashik, numerous temples also are built on the Godavari river basin. Nashik is the locality where Lord Rama along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana had been sent to forests for a prolonged period of fourteen years. It was known as exile of Rama. Due to excavation by archaeological researches, it is revealed that Nashik is a hub of ancient history which dates back before the Stone Age. It is the birthplace of Maratha Emperor Shivaji. Nashik was once the capital city of Satavahana Dynasty.

Geography of Nashik
This "Wine Capital of India" is situated geographically on the western edge of the Deccan Plateau.Nashik, Nashik District, Maharashtra It is an integral part of Western Ghats Mountain Range in India. Nashik in Nashik District is located at about 700 m at sea level. Godavari River originated from the Brahmagiri Mountain and it is the life line of Nashik.

Nashik enjoys tropical wet and dry climate. The maximum temperature ranges from 40 degree Celsius to 45 degree Celsius in summer and the winters ranges from 10 degree Celsius to 20 degree Celsius.
