History of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics
Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal was established in the year 1934 for providing school level education to the residents of Vile Parle and the surrounding areas. Twenty five years later, as the trust celebrated its Silver Jubilee, demands were raised by the members to make arrangements to provide college level education as well. Then the Managing Committee decided to start a Commerce College in the campus of the Mandal. Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics was thus established in 1964. Narsee Monjee, who used his entire life for the foundation of indigenous cigarette factory, was also the first Principal of this college.

Admissions start after the HS examination or its equivalent. Admission into the degree courses in the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is entirely based on a candidate`s performance at the 10+2 level. In order to take admission into the Bachelor in Management Studies Programme, a candidate after successfully completing the Class XII examinations or its equivalent, need not appear for any entrance examination. Admissions into the different vocational courses offered in this college are provided to those students who have successfully completed their SSC examinations or its equivalent. After successful completion of the vocational courses in this college a student can also choose to join B.Com course.

Infrastructure at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics
Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics provides excellent infrastructure to facilitate the education process. The college uses state-of-art technology in its teaching process by making use of audio systems, Overhead Projects, LCD projectors, DVD players and television sets. A well-equipped Resource Generation Room is set-up for the faculty to prepare teaching material and carry out research in their subject. The well equipped computer laboratories enhance the learning process and enables proper conduct of the University prescribed courses.

The students` comfort is taken care of by providing separate common rooms for girls and boys, and other utilities. Further, the talent of the students is given a supportive platform through the auditoriums and conference rooms of the SVKM. The SVKM`s Juhu Jagruti Hall, Bhaidas Sabhagriha, Jashoda Rang Mandir and Santokba Hall are available to the college for its events. A spacious gymkhana has infrastructure and facilities for indoor games. The college has a very spacious and state-of-art library. The college also has a Health-cum-Counseling Centre.

Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is famous for having near about 1,723 associations, including the Student`s forum, Music and Dance Society, Planning forum, Advertising and Marketing circles and number of others. An inter-collegiate festival by the name of `Umang` is hosted by the college. Model United Nations are also organised by this renowned institution. The spirit of sportsmanship is encouraged by the college. The college participates in games from the district to the national levels.

Notable Alumni of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics
The famous Alumni of the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics are Bollywood actors Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla , Sharman Joshi, Paresh Rawal, philanthropist Nita Ambani, film director Ashutosh Gowariker, etc. In order to bring together the faculty and the students of this college together, in the year 1997 the `NaaM` or the Narsee Monjee College Alumni Association Movement was conceptualized by some previous students of this college. The NaaM thus helps in bringing all the past students of the college together, under one roof.

Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is reputed for its strict rules and regulation as far as the attendance of the students are concerned and a number of other criteria for passing. It was awarded a re-accreditation `A` grade and also a 3.42 GPA in the first assessment conducted by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Thus, it can be said that this college of Maharashtra is among the best educational institutions in the country.
