Its geographical coordinates are 16degree 27` 0" north and 81degree 40` 0" east. The name of the town was originally "Narasapuram." It was also known as "Nrusimhapuri" and "AbhinavaBhootapuri".

Narsapur reflects a blend of rustic appeal coupled with modern amenities. The town is resided by people catering to various ethnic groups and faiths. Apart from Hindus, the town also has a large Christian population. The town has been a major centre for the Lutheran missionary activity in the 18th century. It is been popular for its lace handicraft industry.

Tourist Spots in Narsapur
There are several places to visit in Narsapur that are visited by many tourists. Tourists can visit Antarvedi, an important vishnava temple. It is located nearby Narsapuram. The festival of Rathasaptami is celebrated in the temple premises during the month of February. The festival is attended by the all the villagers of the nearby villages. Thousands of people visit the temple during this festival for a holy dip in the water.

Tourists can also visit the Velankani Maatha temple situated 12 km from Narsapur at Perupalem Beach. It is the second tallest church in South India after Velankani Maatha temple at Nagappatinam, Tamil Nadu.

Perupalem Beach is also worth visiting here. The beach located at a distance of 20 kilometers from the town of Narasapur. During Karthika Maasa which falls during the months from November to December many Hindu devotees visit this place and make vanabhojanalu. Theye also take a holy dip in the Sea. The congruence place of the blend of the mighty Godavari River in the Bangla Sea is situated 8 km from Narsapur. There are two ancient and magnificent churches located here that were constructed during the British Period. Kovela temple built by Sri Puppala Ramanappa Naidu garu is a big Vishnava temple located here.

Narsapur has also gained name and fame world wide for the crochet lace products. Around 2 lakh women artisans are engaged in lace work. The cluster has almost 50 exporters who export to major world markets in USA, Europe and Japan. These are located in and around Narsapur, Andhra Pradesh, India, in various villages like Sitarampuram, Palakol, Venkatrayapalem, Antarvedi, Royapet, Mogaltur, etc. They particularly specialise in lace work and other products like garments, tablemats, dollies, furnishings and others.
