Numerous towns and cities have thronged in the soils of India. Few towns also are found in northeastern state of Manipur also. Nambol is one such city, which has gained significance. For supervising its administration a municipal council has been set up.

The Censusu report that has been published in the year 2001 has caught the attention of most of the people. According to this report, the total population of Nambol has showed a measurement of 18,117. Interestingly in Nambol both males and females are in equal proportion. Since its average literacy constitutes 68 %, which is even higher than that of India, it led one to derive that Nambol is more or less a developed city. 59.5 % is India`s average literacy rate. Not only a difference exists between male and female literacy rates. To be specific, male literacy of Nambol constitutes 76 %. Compared to male literacy, female literacy rate is only 59 %.
