Mukteshwar, UttarakhandMukteswar is a pleasant and beautiful destination located at an elevation of 2286 meters above sea level in Nainital District of Uttarakhand State. The place got its name from 350 year old temple Mukteshwar Dham where Lord Shiva resides. This place was developed by the British in order to set up a research center and educational institute in 1893. Mukteshwar is located at 29.4722 degree North and 79.6479 degree East.

Climate of Mukteshwar
Mukteshwar has a subtropical highland climate. It has cold winters and summers are warm with moderate rainfall, while the monsoon season is slightly cooler and features much heavier rain. Winters can be quite cool, and temperatures below freezing are not unusual. Snowfall occurs occasionally in December and January. The monsoon season stretches from July to September.

Attractions of Mukteshwar
Jim Corbett in one of his hunting expeditions came to this place and fell in love with the raw beauty of Mukteshwar. Perched atop a hill in remote parts of the Kumaon Himalaya, Mukteshwar is covered in extensive belt of conifers forest and fruit orchards. The Nanda Kot, Nanda Devi, Nandaghunti, Trishul Mountain and Panchachuli Peaks are some of the major peaks visible from Mukteshwar. The top of the mountain on which Mukteshwar Temple stands offers astounding view of the imposing Himalayan Mountain Range.

Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to reach this place. Pantnagar is the nearest airport to this place, which is located at a distance of 100 km from Mukteshwar. This place can also be reached by road via National Highway 19.
