It is the third highest peak in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago next to Saddle peak and Mount Thullier. Mount Harriet is decorated with some of the most attractive gardens. Located at a height of 365 meters in the southern part of Andaman and Nicobar Island, this is one of the most popularly visited tourist spots in the island. Mount Harriet has been a major sight during the colonial period. Owing to its attractive scenic beauty, this place was converted into the summer headquarters of the British Government.

Etymology of Mount Harriet
The peak is named after Harriet Tytler, the second wife of Robert Christopher Tytler, a British soldier, naturalist and photographer. He was appointed officiating Superintendent of the Convict Settlement at Port Blair in the Andamans from April 1862 to February 1864.

Attractions of Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet can be reached via a dunghi to bamboo flat or one can take a road via Ferrargunj. It is better to enjoy the beauty of Mount Harriet during the day and come back by the evening.
