Mohan Chandra Barman was the leading exponent of Dhuliya Bhaona in Assam. Born in the village of Kaihati, he developed an early interest in Bhaoriya. He was often considered the most creative performer of this genre; he composed new items for it. Among them many were inspired by the Indian struggle for independence. Mohan Chandra Barman improved its thematic and musical contents, and inserted lively improvised commentary on social and economic topics. He was an extremely popular entertainer, who successfully revived this rare folk form. This legendary actor died in the year 1999.
